My project focuses on the topic "Making Peace with the Past" which is about letting go of the previous events that's causing any form of negativity or is laying heavy on you. I provided a survey to 16 people figuring out how hard or easy it is for people to let go of things. Overall based on the data I had collected from these different people really shows how much people are different and how us as people can hold these deep things in and everyone surrounding us can have no clue. Based on my research over the past few weeks I've explored the how people can make peace with their past, leading me to come up with 14 questions to figure out the level they're at of how much struggle there is to let a specific thing go that's been and on occasion floating around in the head.
How can you impact a specific part of the brain that is responsible for your chosen topic/behavior?
Making peace with the past allows a mind to think, this could mean just thinking about this specific event or thinking about how you can change what you feel now and just let go and live in the present. The part of the brain connected to thinking is the cerebrum.
How do the Cognition Pillar topics (Cognition, Memory, Perception, Intelligence) impact your chosen behavior?
Some of the topics under the Cognition Pillar that could honestly attach to my topic is framing and conformation bias, those relate to ignoring and posing and which affect decisions that are made in life.
This information allows an individual to see how they can lower the effects that have been caused due to not being able to let something go by using certain techniques (that I also provided in my magazine page) and be able to live ahead, that is how making peace with the past can be used as a superpower.
SURVEY QUESTIONS-
1. **ARE YOU AWARE THESE RESULTS WILL BE RECORDED? (will stay anonymous) **
2. ON A SCALE OF 0-5, 0 BEING NONE AND 5 BEING A LOT, IS THERE ANY FORM OF GUILT BEING HELD INSIDE?
3. IS THIS TRAUMA THOUGHT OF ALL THE TIME OR WHEN BEING IN MOMENTS WHERE YOU'RE REMINDED OF IT?
4. IS IT HARD OR DOES IT MAKE IT WORSE SEEING A SPECIFIC PERSON DUE TO THE AGONY THAT'S BEING HELD ON TO?
5. DO YOU FEEL GUILTY MOVING PAST THIS?
6. IS THERE A SENSE OF PAIN THAT'S BEING DENIED?
7. ARE YOU HAVING TROUBLE FORGIVING YOURSELF?
8. ARE YOU HAVING TROUBLE FORGIVING SOMEONE ELSE?
9. HAVE YOU ATTEMPTED/TRIED TO MAKE PEACE WITH THIS PREVIOUS EVENT?
10. IF SO, ON A SCALE OF 1-5 HOW HARD HAS IT BEEN TO LET THIS TRAUMA GO?
11. HOW OFTEN DOES THIS COME TO MIND?
12. DOES THIS AFFECT YOUR MENTAL FOCUS?
13. ON SCALE OF 1 TO 10 HOW MUCH ARE YOU OR YOUR DAILY LIFE AFFECTED OVERALL BY THIS SITUATION? (10 BEING THE MOST AND 1 BEING THE LOWEST)
14. IS THERE ANY AFFECTS DUE TO THIS CAUSE?
(CHOOSE WHATEVER APPLIES)
